ICAC deputy commissioner Tony Kwok: " Everyone should eliminate
the opportunity for corrupt practices. Public involvement is important
and there must be transparency in work procedures."
In recent years, Hong Kong has been consistently rated by international surveys as one of the top three least corruption places in Asia.
Mainly because of its clean and efficient administration, it is currently one of the world's leading financial centres and ranks as the world's fifth largest in terms of the volume of external banking transactions.
It also hosts the regional headquarters of over 800 international companies who have found Hong Kong very conducive for business.
"This, however, wasn't the case 20-odd years ago," said Tony Kwok Man-wai, deputy commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), an independent agency dedicated to fighting corruption in Hong Kong.
